Accurate Measurements Help You Get an Accurate Estimate
Why Measuring Matters
To provide a precise quote for your new countertops, we need accurate initial dimensions. While our team will take final professional measurements before fabrication, your preliminary measurements help us give you the best guidance and pricing from the start.
What You’ll Need:
Tape measure
Pencil and paper (or our downloadable template)
Calculator (optional)
Phone to take photos (recommended)
Step-by-Step: How to Measure Your Countertops
1. Sketch Your Layout
Draw the shape of your kitchen or bathroom counters from a top-down view. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect—it’s just a rough outline.
Include:
All countertop sections
Sink and stove placements
Any islands or peninsulas
Backsplash areas (if needed)
Edge preferences (e.g., straight, curved)
2. Measure Each Section
A. Measure Length
Use a tape measure to get the length of each straight section in inches.
Measure along the wall from one end of the counter to the other.
B. Measure Depth
Standard depth is 25.5 inches (front to back), but measure just in case.
For islands, measure both the length and depth.
C. Backsplash Height (Optional)
Standard is 4 inches.
If you’re replacing or adding full-height backsplash, note the height of the wall space above the counter.
D. Overhangs
If you want an overhang (for bar seating or style), note how far you’d like it to extend—typically 10–12 inches.
3. Add Notes for Cutouts
Mark areas for:
Sink(s)
Cooktop or range
Faucets or soap dispensers
Any special cutouts (pop-up outlets, etc.)
4. Take Photos (Optional but Helpful)
Take clear, wide shots of your current countertops and any challenging areas. This helps our team better understand your space.
Example Measurement Entry
| Section | Length (inches) | Depth (inches) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 96 | 25.5 | Main counter |
| B | 60 | 25.5 | Peninsula |
| Island | 72 | 36 | Add 12″ overhang |
| Sink Cutout | — | — | Undermount sink |
Optional: Convert to Square Footage
To get an estimate:
Multiply Length × Depth (in inches)
Divide by 144 to get square feet
Example:
96″ × 25.5″ = 2,448 sq in
2,448 ÷ 144 = 17 sq ft
